Enough is Enough.

It has been a sad day for me.  On Sunday night, Layla and Maya got sick.  I wasn't sure if they ate something or what was going on.  Layla was much better by Monday night, but Maya was still a bit lethargic.  Maya would not eat anything, but would drink a bit of water, then get sick again.
This morning, she drank water, but was still pretty mopey.

I had a meeting after school this afternoon, but decided to stop by home and check on Maya first.  When I got home, poor girl didn't even move.  I knew it was bad.  Dad called the vet for me and we met there.
The vet immediately took Maya back, after checking her temperature and finding it much lower than normal.  They gave her IV fluids and ran tests.  After running the tests, they said she ate something bad.   They think it was possibly a dead animal in the yard.  (Although, I never saw anything unusual and checked the yard lots!)

The vet recommended I take Maya to the Emergency Animal Clinic to stay the night.  I cannot afford that right now.  They did what they could to hydrate her, medicate her and get her in a good enough condition to come home with me.  I was planning to take her back to the vet in the morning for more IV fluids.

About 7:45 tonight, my sweet Maya died.  She was just too sick.  If I knew it was this bad, I would have taken her to the vet yesterday!

I don't know how much more I can take.  I mean, enough is enough.

Here are some sweet pictures of Maya...

Addison was loving on Maya yesterday when I told her Maya was sick.  (Check out my headband on Addison's head!  Love her!)

Sweet Maya resting in my bathtub when we came home tonight.

She loved going in the car!

Baby Addison, Layla, Maya and Maggie!

I am so sad tonight.  I am sad for Addison tomorrow when she calls for Maya and can't find her.  I am sad for Layla who doesn't know whats going on.
Life is just hard, sometimes.

The Texas Riviera

This past weekend, I had the opportunity to get away with some friends.  It was just what I needed.

We stayed on Crystal Beach in this fabulous house!  It is currently for sale, but friends of mine have a good connection!  The beach was better known as 'The Texas Riviera' this weekend.  Sounds glamorous, doesn't it?

Kaci, who invited me to join her family, has two awesome boys!  They went crabbin' on Saturday morning while Kaci and I did nothing.  It was glorious.

Our other friend, Leigh Ann, and her boyfriend Paul met us out there on Saturday-day.

I am so thankful for these girls - especially the past few months.  They have been my sounding board, advice givers, shoulders to cry on and happy hour-goers.

It was a wonderful weekend!  I can't wait till next time!

29...For the First Time

My 29th Birthday was a few weeks ago.  My birthday was on a Wednesday this year.  Since Jimmy had Addison on Tuesday night, the day started off just so-so.  I woke up in the morning, not really wanting to admit that I was another year older.
Once I got to school, things turned around.  If you have to work on your birthday, teaching Kindergarten is the best place to do it.  I'm pretty sure they were more excited than I have ever been for my birthday.

I also had several of my kids from last year stop by to read!

Other classes came to sing "Happy Birthday" as well!

About half way through the day, it dawned on me that I am 29.  Isn't this the age that people want to stay indefinitley?  This should be my greatest year.  There are lots of people who want to be 29 again.  I don't want to mope my way through this year!

That weekend, The Geislers came in town to celebrate with us.  I showed them around my newly painted house, we went fishing with Addison in her play room,

we played with princess blocks,

fed the birds and squirrels,

and enjoyed each other's company in the gorgeous sun.

I took a day off recently, used some of my birthday money and planted a bunch of plants and flowers.  I love that my yard has tons of color now!  Hibiscus are one of my very favorite flower!!  There is a new flower everyday on the plant.

This birthday turned out to be pretty good.
Its a whole new year, new house (-ish), new future, new opportunities and new hopes.
Here's to 29...for hopefully the only time.

The Best.

Addison and I had the best long weekend!  We had Friday off, so we spent a good part of the day by the pool at a friend's house!  It was glorious!

Look at Addison, just like one of the big kids!

Friday evening, we went with Kasey and her ummm...friend...for a margarita before the fish fry at church!  It was a perfect day for some patio margaritas!

On Saturday, dad and I went for a run while mom took Addison to an Easter festival.  We found another one to go to that afternoon!

She decorated cookies, won a cake in the cake walk,

and found a few eggs in their mini egg hunt!
Saturday night, we had some baking to do for Sunday.  Addison 'helped' with the eggs!  (Notice the yolk on the stool and floor!)
Easter morning, she slept in until about 8:45!  We got ready, then she found her Easter basket downstairs!  She was so excited!

The highlight was the egg hunt at church!  She ran out the back door and yelled, "EGGS!"

I think she looks so grown up here!

My girl and I after church on Sunday!

Have I mentioned before that I have the best family?
I need to say how blessed we are!  We have such generous people in our lives!  One of my former parents at school gave Addison this precious tricycle!  She stored all her eggs in it and loved pulling them around!

We really did have a wonderful weekend.  I am constantly reminded that no matter what is going on, how sad I get, how hard things seem or how frustrating life can be at times, we are so blessed.  She and I are surrounded by people that love us, accept us, are willing to be there, do anything for us and give us the help and support we need.  Even if it means just hanging out doing nothing all day.  Some days, things are awful and no fun, but there is a plan for us.
Dad said in his sermon on Sunday, "We are alive in Christ and we are filled with Great Expectations!"

22 Months!

Each month, I still cannot believe baby girl is learning so much and doing so many new things!
I think she looks like a full blown toddler here!

Addison LOVES to read, but her most favorite thing ever is to draw!  She loves to watch me draw pictures for her and to draw things herself!
She is non-stop talking!!  She will try to say new words everyday!  She is running everywhere, and even 'jumping' (without her feet actually leaving the ground!)
I was going to cancel gymnastics, but decided to keep going with it.  Last week, she did so so good!  She participated in every activity!
She loves her babysitter still and so do I!  She goes in pretty well, but it thrilled to see me when I get to pick her up!
We read three books, say prayers and rock every night.  I love this time with her!  She is so snuggly!
We are back in the pool and she loves it just as much as last summer!  This year, she seems to be a bit more reserved though.  Thats ok with me!!
She helps me feed the dogs each evening and still loves her job of feeding the fish.
Overall, she is happy, happy, happy!  I have seen glimpses of the two year old tantrums, but I tell her, "You come find me when you are done with that fit."  It seems to work pretty well.
She is doing ok with going between our house and Jimmy's.  Wednesday's are a bit rough because she is sleepy (I think), but after Tuesday night, I am so happy to have her back with me!
Her favorite word right now is "yellow."  Everything is yellow!  She will say other colors, when I tell her what the right answer is.  When you ask what color something is, the first answer is "yellow!"
Most weekends, I am up about an hour before she is!  She wakes up between 8:30-9:00.  It is so nice that she sleeps in!  It gives me a chance to get the dogs taken care of, a coffee made and some wake up time before she is ready to play!

I could not LOVE this girl more!!

My Long Weekend

This weekend was a rough one for me.  Jimmy had Addison for TWO nights!  Ugh.  I had lots of things planned to do to keep busy…

First, for the most thrilling event.  Don’t be jealous when I tell you I had to attend a parenting class for four hours on Saturday morning.  That’s right, I was right along side other divorcees from Montgomery County.  Can you imagine the types of people who surrounded me?  Wow.  For the most part, it was lame.  It was very generic.  “Bill and Barbara are getting divorced and they have three kids.  Barbara is mad and doesn’t want Bill to see the children at all.  Is this the right thing to do or not?”  I wanted to raise my hand and say, “Well, if Bill was a you-know-what, had an affair and walked out on his family, maybe he shouldn’t get to see the kids.”  But, I kept my mouth shut and accepted my completion certificate after the grueling four hours.

I ran a bunch of errands, spent more money than I should have and had my house painted on Saturday as well!  I have done most of the painting in the house myself, but I found a great, inexpensive painter who did so much for me while I was at my parenting class!  They painted my living room, kitchen and downstairs bath.  It looks wonderful!!  I have seriously painted every room in my house.  I don’t have much more to buy.  I want to get a white coffee table from Ikea, a few accessories and a wall hanging for my kitchen.  Then, I’m done!!  I love it!  Love, love, love it!

On Saturday, I also rejoined the gym we were members of last summer.  They happened to have a wonderful promotion going on this weekend for past members.  I couldn’t pass it up!  I went to a few classes with a girlfriend yesterday and it was wonderful!

In an effort to stay busy and not sit at home all day, I also got my haircut, nails and toenails painted yesterday.  I went to get drinks and dinner with friends last night, too.

But, today, is the most exciting thing of all…I get to go pick up Addison!!  As soon as school is over, I am leaving to go get my baby!!
